In Africa, almost half of the population access basic needs and services on foot. Yet, the infrastructure to cater to pedestrians is often lacking. Public transport is heavily relied on as the main means of motorized transport. African cities are uniquely positioned to capitalize on the high volumes of people walking by improving footpaths, while greening the public transport sector to encourage sustainable transport.
