In Africa, almost half of the population access basic needs and services on foot and another 35% rely solely on public transport. Yet, the infrastructure to cater to pedestrians and public transport users is inadequate. African cities are uniquely positioned to capitalize on the high volumes of people walking by improving footpaths while greening the public transport sector to encourage sustainable pathways.
